Community Alert update from the Park Forest Police Department
A man wanted in connection with the groping of two women in separate incidents last month may be responsible for a similar attack that occurred Monday.
Around 5:40 p.m. on Monday, March 31, the Park Forest Police Department received a call of a man in the area of Sangamon Street and Shabbona Drive who ran up to a 15-year-old girl and fondled her before running off.
The man is described as an African-American male, between the ages of 25 and 30, standing approximately 5’8”, with a slim to medium build and facial hair. He was wearing a light blue baseball cap and grey sweat pants that had a red stripe down the side.
While it is not clear if the man responsible for the incident Monday is the same man responsible for similar incidents that occurred last month, the descriptions given by victims do match.
In those incidents last month, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on March 18 a teen girl was walking in the area of Winnebago Park when she was approached by a man who robbed her at knife-point, groped her and ran. At approximately 8:20 a.m. on March 20, a teen girl was walking in the area of Westgate Street and Westwood Drive when a man approached her, groped her and ran.
The Park Forest Police Department asks all residents to continue to be alert and to dial 9-1-1 immediately should you see or hear anything suspicious, or if you may know the person responsible for these attacks.
