Park Forest welcomed in 2020 by holding a meeting of local clergy at Village Hall on the 2020 Census.
Park Forest Mayor Jonathan Vanderbilt coordinated the Jan. 4 information session to enlist the help of Park Forest churches in outreaching to community members on the importance of being counted as part of the 2020 U.S. Census.
The two-hour-long session was attended by over 20 religious leaders and featured a presentation from Cory Stevenson, U.S. Census Partnership Specialist.
Stevenson educated the group on the census process and what can be done to ensure that every resident of Park Forest is counted. Stevenson also shared details on employment opportunities with the Census and how local residents can get paid while helping the community be counted.
Stevenson conducted a similar session in October for the nearly 40-member Park Forest Complete Count Committee.
U.S. Census Day is April 1, 2020. Following the kick-off on the first of April, Americans all over the country will participate in the U.S. Census count that continues through the end of the year.
