This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!,” aims to educate residents on the small but important actions you can take to remain safe in the event of a fire. Did you know that in a typical home fire you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape, from the time the smoke alarm sounds? Escape planning and practice can help you make the most of the time you have to get out.
The Park Forest Fire Department's annual Fire Prevention Week activities includes the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service followed by the Fallen Firefighter Memorial Parade on Thursday, Oct. 10. An open house at the Fire Station will also be held on Saturday, Oct. 12.
