The Village of Park Forest is hosting its annual toy drive, a cherished community initiative that invites residents to contribute and spread holiday cheer. This year, the toy drive will officially kick off on Friday, Nov. 1, and will continue until Dec. 2.
Evelyn Randle, the Village's community relations manager, emphasizes the importance of this drive, noting that there will be a designated collection box located in the Village Hall lobby. Residents are encouraged to donate brand-new, unwrapped toys to ensure they bring joy to children in need.
"The holiday season has arrived, and we recognize that for some members of our community, this time can be particularly challenging," Randle explained. "Many families find it difficult to secure gifts for their loved ones, which is why we are hosting this toy drive. Our goal is to inspire those who are able to donate and foster a spirit of generosity that helps uplift our community."
This year's efforts aim to provide gifts and strengthen community bonds, reminding everyone of the joy that comes from giving during the festive season. Residents are encouraged to participate and make a difference in the lives of children in Park Forest.
Randle reported that the donation drive is designed to support children from newborns up to 15-year-old teenagers. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributes and encouraged shoppers to consider purchasing an extra toy or two while they are out looking for gifts for their own families.
"If you're shopping online or browsing in stores, and you're financially able to help, please think about adding an additional doll, stuffed animal, or game to your cart," Randle stated. "If each of us contributes even a little, we can collectively bring a lot of joy to families who are experiencing difficult times this holiday season."
Furthermore, Randle emphasized that individuals who wish to take part in the giveaway must register by clicking here. The deadline to sign up is Nov. 22. In addition to toys, she also announced that the Commission on Human Relations will be distributing 100 hoodie sweatshirts for adults, ensuring that everyone in the community feels included and has something special to enjoy during the holiday festivities.
