For the third year, the Village of Park Forest honored residents who have lived here for 25 years or more at the annual Pioneers Breakfast on Sunday.

Nearly 200 people attended the event at Dining on the Green. They enjoyed the music while eating and mingled with each other. Community Relations Manager Evelyn Randle, who hosted the event, said this year was special because Park Forest is also celebrating its 75th anniversary."

"Park Forest turns 75 this year," Randle said. "We had some residents who attended the breakfast who've lived here for 70 years. They've seen the Village basically grow before their eyes. So, having this breakfast is an excellent way for lifelong Park Foresters to get to know each other and tell their stories of the Village."

Randle and Mayor Joseph A. Woods thanked the attendees for coming and supporting the Village over the years. They served a variety of breakfast items, from waffles to French toasts. Randle said the breakfast was just a small gesture of appreciation.

"We just wanted to show the residents who've been here for it all that we appreciate them," Randle said. "Throughout the year, we will continue to do so as the Village celebrates its 75th anniversary."

Randle said residents can expect a wide selection of anniversary-themed events highlighting the Village's 75-year story. Community favorites such as Main Street Nights, including the 4th of July Celebration and Unity Day, will continue to take place, but with unique 75th Anniversary themes.
