The Village of Park Forest was awarded the Certificate of Achievement (COA) by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The report is judged by an impartial panel to meet the program's high standards, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
Deputy Village Manager and Finance Director Mark Pries said the award shows how Park Forest continues to lead the way.
"The GFOA award for our annual audit represents a strong collaborative effort between all departments in the Village," Pries said. "I want to thank my excellent and dedicated staff for their efforts, particularly Sharon Floyd, the Assistant Finance Director, for all of her efforts on the audit process."
Pries praised Floyd and added, "The Village would not be able to get this award without her dedication, and the results speak for themselves."
Pries thanked the mayor and Board of Trustees for their ongoing support and leadership regarding the Village's financial matters.
This is the 27th COA award for the Village.
"We do not take [this award] for granted, and hope Park Forest residents appreciate the efforts put into managing and protecting the government's financial resources," Pries said.
