The Park Forest Police Department is deeply committed to partnering with residents to ensure the safety of the community. In looking for ways to further ensure the safety of the Village, the police department has allocated funding, $20,000, to sponsor a Private Security Camera Incentive Program. This program will provide residents the opportunity to receive a 50% rebate to cover half of the cost of one (1) front facing camera per residence, business, or non-profit, not to exceed $200. The purpose of this program is to help deter and solve crime within the Park Forest community.
Beginning April 15, 2024 an owner or tenant of a property that is used as a residence, business, or non-profit organization located within the Village of Park Forest may apply. Rebates will be provided on a first applied, first reviewed basis and is subject to funding availability. Please fill out the online application by clicking here or pick up a paper copy of the application at the Park Forest Police Department. The application and all supporting documents will need to be submitted online or in-person at the Park Forest Police Department.

Do I have to purchase a specific security camera system?
Security cameras must retain video footage for at least seven (7) days. Security camera systems shall be installed front facing on the exterior of a residence/building and must be weatherproof.
How much is the rebate?
The rebate is to cover 50% of the cost of the front facing camera not to exceed $200. Costs, such as installation, accessories, recording subscription, and video storage, are not covered.
Can I be reimbursed for more than one camera?
The rebates are limited to 50% of one (1) front facing security camera per business/residence/non-profit.
Will the Park Forest Police Department have access to the footage from the camera or will Police Department publicly share my information?
Residents who are interested in participating in the program are required to register their cameras with the Park Forest Police Department. As part of this program, the police department will not have access to live video from the camera. The collection, dissemination, and use of video by the Park Forest Police Department will be for official law enforcement purposes only.
What documentation do I need to apply for a rebate?
The documents below will need to either be uploaded to your online application or brought directly to the Park Forest Police Department. A paper copy of the application will be available at our records window.
Upon the determination that an applicant has complied with all the requirements, and subject to the availability of funds, a check for the applicable amount will be mailed to the applicant from the Village of Park Forest.
Verification of Installation
If the security camera system is installed by a business with a valid business license that is engaged in the installation of security systems, the business shall certify the installation of the camera system at the property, including photographic evidence.
If the security camera system is installed by the property owner, business owner, or another person without a valid business license, an officer from the Park Forest Police Department will conduct an on-site visit to verify the installation of the security camera.
