Barbecue and blues will take center stage next weekend when the Village of Park Forest hosts its first-ever Ribs & Blues Fest.
This free community event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Village Green, at 349 Main St.
Community Relations Manager Evelyn Randle said attendees can look forward to a full day of live music, smoky ribs, and a vibrant festival atmosphere, regardless of the weather.
“This is an event we’ve been excited to bring to the community,” Randle said “Last year, we had to cancel due to rain, but this time we’re ready — and the ribs are coming, no matter the weather.”
The music lineup features a mix of local and regional blues artists, including Brookwood Drive, Michael Charles, and The Freddie Dixon Blues Band, among others. A variety of vendors will also be present, offering food, drinks, and artisan goods.
Randle encourages attendees to register in advance. As an added incentive, the first 50 people who register and email her at erandle@vopf.com will receive a $5 voucher to use with selected vendors at the event.
“This is more than just a concert or a food festival,” Randle said. “It’s a way for our community to come together, enjoy great music, support small businesses, and have a really good time before summer winds down.”
