Village welcomes new deputy police chief

Ryzki

The Park Forest Police Department’s Brian Rzyski, who since October has assumed the role of deputy chief following the promotion of former deputy chief Christopher Mannino to police chief, was officially sworn in Monday evening.

Rzyski is in this 18th year with the Park Forest Police Department. Twelve of those years have been in the investigations division where he has held the positions of detective, detective corporal, and detective commander. He has served as a homicide investigator with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and is also a certified fire investigator. He was a member of the Park Forest Special Operation Group and has also served as the department’s field training coordinator. Throughout his career Rzyski has received 26 outstanding service awards, two term awards, six meritorious awards, and was voted by his peers as the 2008 Officer of the Year. He holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from South Suburban College and is currently working on his bachelor’s degree from Governors State University.

Four other officers were also sworn in Monday at Village Hall. New officers Stuart Walden and Garrick Enns along with recently promoted Commander John Sweitzer and Sergeant Kristopher Vallow all took oaths administered by Village Clerk Shelia McGann.
