Pete Green (pictured left), a 25-year veteran of the Park Forest Police Department, was named Park Forest’s new police chief earlier this month. Green succeeds former Police Chief Cliff Butz who retired from the department.

Green holds a masters degree in public safety administration from Calumet College, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Green has served in all positions within the Patrol Division and Investigations Unit of the Park Forest Police Department. He has served as a team leader for the department’s Special Operations Group and has held assignments with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force and the South Suburban Emergency Response Team. Green was named the Park Forest Police Department’s Officer of the Year in 2002, and is the recipient of over 50 additional departmental awards. Park Forest’s new police chief is also a veteran of the U.S. Army. Green’s father, Wally Green, retired for the Park Forest Police Department as a lieutenant.

Chief Green selected Paul Winfrey (pictured right), a 17-year veteran of the Park Forest Police Department, to fill his vacated role of deputy police chief. Winfrey will oversee the Administrative Service Division of the department. Winfrey holds a bachelors degree in criminal justice from Governors State University and is currently enrolled in graduate courses in Public Administration at Governors State University. He has completed additional training at West Point Military Academy and at Northwestern University’s School of Staff and Command. Winfrey has served in all positions in the Patrol and Investigations Divisions. He most recently was commander of the investigations unit prior to his promotion to deputy chief. Winfrey was named the Park Forest Police Department’s Officer of the Year in 2005 and holds various other department awards. Winfrey joins Christopher Mannino as the department’s deputy chiefs.
