The Park Forest Aqua Center will host an "H20 Glow Teen Event" this Friday. Event organizers said the event is one of three planned for young people this season.
In addition to the pools, the events offer themed base activities, games, and photo booths with theme-based props to capture and share memories of the event. The concessions stand will open throughout the night and offer special glowing treats.
Wristbands are on sale: $10 and $7 for members. The event is for grades 6-12, and a school ID will be required for entry. Organizers said this is the first time they offered a teen-only event at the Aqua Center and noted the idea was to give them something fun to do at the facility.
"Our goal was to offer young people a unique experience at the Aqua Center," the organizer, Bob Welch, said. "During the day, the pool can feel hectic, but in the special event, it's less crowded and more relaxed but still just as fun."
Welch added organizing youth events is an excellent way to offer young individuals opportunities to develop, learn, and grow.
"Additionally, it enables us to connect with a vast and active social network user base," Welch said. "Successful youth events have a positive impact on the behavior and activity of youths in neighborhoods."
Welch mentioned hosting these events for young people will expose them to the Aqua Center, and they may want to work there during the summer in the near future.
This year's other two events are: "Christmas in July" on July 28 and the "Back to School Bash" on Aug. 25.
