The Department of Public Works (DPW) is alerting residents that crews will begin removing the curb and driveway apron on the north and east side of the street from lndianwood Boulevard to Seneca Street starting Wednesday, May 3.
This work is a part of the ongoing construction project on Shabbona Drive.
On Tuesday night, May 2, DPW asks that residents on the north and east side remove their cars from their driveway.
Beginning May 3, parking will not be allowed on the north and east of Shabbona Drive between lndianwood Boulevard and Seneca Street.
Residents are encouraged to park their cars on side streets away from construction traffic. However, during construction on the north and east side of the street, residents may temporarily park on the south and west side of the street.
Officials with DPW said dirt, debris, or other materials may accidentally get on cars parked on this side during construction hours.
Parking restrictions on the north and east side will remain in place until new concrete has been replaced and given at least five days to cure, or approximately three weeks, depending on the weather.
Officials with DPW said the contractor has been asked to knock on doors to notify residents immediately before eliminating access to driveways. After the north and east side roadway work is complete, work will begin on the south and west side.
As a reminder, this project will take place during working hours, Monday through¬ Saturday, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Common construction inconveniences such as traffic congestion, dust, noise, and heavy equipment should be expected in the work zone.
Residents should be sure to keep a safe distance from construction equipment and not walk near construction activity.
The Village realizes that this is an inconvenience and appreciates your patience.
