Join the Park Forest Fire Department for the following activities being held in recognition of Fire Prevention Week!
On Thursday, October 9 the Park Forest Fire Department will hold the annual silent twilight parade. This is the 34th year for this event which brings together fire trucks from surrounding communities in a silent tribute to firefighters who have fallen while protecting others during the past year.
The parade will begin with a short non-denominational memorial service at St. Irenaeus Church, 78 Cherry Street, beginning at 6 p.m. Following the service, the parade will proceed silently down a four-mile route through Park Forest, returning to the Fire Department for a reception. Residents are encouraged to stand at the curb to show their support as the parade passes.
On Saturday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., take a tour of the firehouse and meet the fire personnel who serve your community! During the open house, demonstrations along with fire safety information will be provided. Car seats will also be checked. Additionally, there will be several activities for children including presentations in the Fire Safety trailer! Parents, this is a great event and opportunity for kids!
