Village begins strategic planning process, residents needed for important April 7 meeting

Park Forest Strategic Planning 2020

Park Forest residents are needed to help create a new road map for the future of the community.

Every five years, village leaders develop new strategic planning goals. These goals are created through a series of strategic planning sessions facilitated by an outside agency specializing in organizational goal setting. This year, Park Forest has partnered with B2B Strategic Solutions, Inc., a Chicago-based management consulting firm with a proven record of consulting success in the private and public sector.

B2B Strategic Solutions, Inc. held a kickoff meeting at Village Hall on Feb. 24 to outline how the strategic planning process will unfold over the next few months.

During the months of March and April, B2B Strategic Solutions, Inc. will hold several planning sessions to gather stakeholder feedback.

An important planning session for Park Forest residents is set for April 7 at 7 p.m.

How do you assess the village’s current state? What changes and focuses would you like to see in the village in the coming years? Residents interested in taking part in this critical strategic planning session are encouraged to rsvp today by clicking here.

Share your thoughts and help Park Forest create goals that reflect the community’s input!

Frequently Asked Questions on the Strategic Planning Process

What is a strategic plan?

A process by which an organization assesses where they are now and where they want to be. A strategic plan encompasses long and short-term goals from simple to complex. It also provides methods to track progress towards those goals. The stages are:

•  Clarify your vision
•  Gather and analyze information
•  Formulate a strategy
•  Implement your strategy
•  Evaluate and control

How is a strategic plan used?

Organizations use strategic planning to set a sense of direction. The plan increases operational efficiency and allows the organization to be proactive versus reactive. It helps to prioritize resources and brings key stakeholders to a consensus.

Has Park Forest done a strategic plan in the past?

Yes. Visit this link to view strategic plans from past years here.

Who is helping Park Forest develop goals for the strategic plan?

B2B Strategic Solutions, Inc. has been selected by Park Forest to assist the village with developing strategic goals that will ultimately be a part of Park Forest’s strategic plan. B2B has over a decade of experience in developing strategic plans with both state and local governments.

What’s the expected duration of this process?

B2B expects to have fully developed strategic goals delivered to the village by late spring. This date could be extended by 2-3 weeks depending on unforeseen events and/or participant response times.

Will there be input from the public?

Yes. The process includes input from the village’s elected officials (mayor and trustees) and 30 members of the public randomly selected but evenly weighted from Park Forest’s 10 neighborhoods. In addition, the public will always have the ability to comment on the development of the goals by attending village board meetings. The schedule for these meetings is posted on the village’s website here.

How will the goals benefit residents?

Participating Village of Park Forest residents have the opportunity to:

•  Be involved in the development of strategic goals to point their community in the direction they want to go
•  Contribute their vision of what their community should be in the future
•  Share their viewpoints on what trends affect the community, the problems it faces and the opportunities ahead
