Water Tower Construction

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has implemented a nationwide initiative focused on enhancing public awareness of EPA financial assistance. Another goal of this initiative is to increase public awareness regarding improvements that municipalities make as a result of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan programs.  The Village of Park Forest was recently approved for a $3,490,670 loan with a low interest rate of 0.83% that will be repaid over 20 years for the following project.

Water Treatment Plant Elevated Storage Tank

Construction of a new elevated tank at the Village of Park Forest Water Treatment Plant (WTP) located at 100 Park Street, Park Forest, Illinois.  This project will be financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes the construction of a 0.5 million gallon elevated tank adjacent to the WTP parking lot to provide potable water storage and the addition of controls to facilitate water flow through the tank to the distribution system. When completed, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in the Village by improving system reliability. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.

If you have any questions, please call (708) 503-7702 or check the Village’s website, www.villageofparkforest.com/ProjectUpdates, for updates.

We would also like to take this time to encourage residents and businesses to sign up for Public Notifications and CODE RED.  Visit the Village webpage at www.vopf.com.  At the bottom of page are links to STAY INFORMED and EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS.  The Public Works Dept. is actively using these 2 resources more frequently to communicate information and notices, to residents and businesses, regarding projects, water service disruptions, boil advisories/orders, construction changes, etc.  If you would like to stay informed, Please be sure to sign up to receive EMAIL notifications.  Email notification is the predominate mode utilized as more information can be provided.  Consider signing up for Text and Phone Call notifications as well, but please know that notice information is limited.
