Main Street Nights

     


2013 Schedule:

Grab a blanket, pack a snack and position yourself in the Park Forest Downtown Village Green (Cunningham and Main Streets) for eight FREE nights of entertainment, rain or shine! In case of rain, performances will be moved to Dining on the Green, 349 Main Street. For weather related changes or cancellations, please call (708)283-5647, for general inquiries, (708)748-2005. Events are subject to change. Chairs will not be provided. Please bring your own chairs. 


 


*Wednesday, June 12
PARK FOREST AQUA CENTER - 30 N. ORCHARD
5:00 p.m. - Open Swim
Bring your suits and join in some fun aquatics activities or just hang out around the pools. The Main Street Nights Concert will feature Park Forest’s very own Dave Rudolf beginning at 7 p.m. Children under the age of 13 years must enter the Aqua Center with an adult 18 years or older to supervise them at all times.

 

7:00 p.m. - Dave Rudolf 
Want to hear some Jimmy Buffet, Harry Belafonte, the Beatles…or something from Dave’s newest CD release? The multi-award winning musician brings fun in the sun with his wacky and interactive show for kids of all ages!

7:00 p.m. – Sideswipe - Martial Art Performance Team


Sideswipe Martial Arts based group blends traditional martial arts such as Karate and Tae Kwon Do, with gymnastics and acrobatics to create an extreme highflying display of talent, strength and stamina unlike anything else on the planet.





 

  7:45 p.m. – Carla Prather and Company

The essence of pure soul combined with raw talent, Carla Prather and Company embodies true musicianship through their unique sound that permeates the very heart and soul of the audiences that follow them. The diversity of the material they cover spans across several genres of music, tempting every foot to tap and every finger to snap, while gaining new fans. While covering fun favorites like “Baby I’m Scared of You” by Womack and Womack, to “Respect Yourself” by the Staples Singers, to “Young Americans” by David Bowie, this band brings pure heat!  Experience the hottest pure funk, jazz, R&B and soul all rolled into one!

“The Flying Fool”, has been dazzling audiences. with his time tested, clean &  positive fun that will not offend.  Ken uses a symphony of juggling, physical comedy, humor and improvisation. Stunts of fire-eating, bowling ball juggling, and balancing an 8 ft. table on his chin. The comic Ken uses his elastic, comedic face to paint a permanent smile on the faces of everyone! 


  7:45 p.m. – Banda Rika

BANDA RIKA is a Latin band with a powerful, versatile and highly entertaining dance show whose musical repertoire consists of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and Bachata. They’ve been named “Best Suburban Latin Band” by Suburban Nightlife and have shared the stage with Latin greats such as: Arturo Sandoval, Grupo Niche, and Grupo Kaoss.

7 p.m. – Funkadesi -  Community Drum Circle

Everyone’s part of the band! The musicians from FUNKADESI lead the audience in the most powerful drumming this summer!

  7:45 p.m. – Funkadesi - World Music Band

The 5-Time Winner of The Chicago Music Awards, FUNKADESI is capturing the attention of the U.S. and the rest of the globe, and has been hailed by Time Magazine! Experience Funkadesi's one-world sound, roots-watering vision, and positive vibe make the band a unique and compelling musical force.

Back by popular demand! Jim Nesci entertains while
educating the audience about reptiles. See and touch 4 types of
reptilians.

  7:45 p.m. – Creole Stomp

Creole Stomp, brings the excitement of Louisiana Creole, Cajun  and Zydeco music to stages across North America. Traditional Louisiana Cajun two-step, reels and waltzes sizzle in the stew along with Creole blues, mazurkas and zydecos.

7 p.m. – Radio Rock

Radio Rock features popular radio chartbusters presented in a high energy interactive show. Kids are encouraged to sing, dance and participate while the show stresses positive themed messages.

  7:45 p.m. – Saturday June Band

Saturday June Band is one of the top acts in the Midwest having played at Taste of Chicago, Navy Pier, Arlington Racetrack, Ravinia Festival and many more. Saturday June Band plays an eclectic mix of music ranging from the 60's and the 70's right up to today's hits, plus songs from their two original albums.

7 p.m. – Daniel Martin

His high energy fusion of Interactive Magic, Exhilarating Escapes & Sarcastic Improv are leading to record breaking crowds nationwide. From the moment Daniel steps foot on stage you know something very special is about to happen.  He is continually hailed by his peers as one of the most creative acts performing today with his original magic having been featured on CBS, NBC, ESPN, Revision3 & VH1.

  7:45 p.m. –  Southland Jazz Ensemble

Enjoy the best in classic jazz and hard driving swing by the finest big band in the Southland region. Currently in residence at Prairie State College, the group is made up of some of the most highly regarded musicians in the area.

Back for an encore appearance, Classical Blast is an innovative musical group that crosses genres, combining rock music with classical instruments.
