Peter Mayer’s “Stars and Promises”

2010 marks the 10th anniversary of Peter Mayer’s annual celebration of Christmas, “Stars and Promises”. In 1999 Peter, singer/songwriter, and the lead guitarist for Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer, and his brother Jim Mayer, took carols such as “What Child Is This”, “Joy to World”, and “Little Drummer Boy”, and original compositions such as “Sing Joy” and “This Christmas” and placed them in musical settings that traced their upbringing and musical influences from a childhood in India to their journeys into jazz, rock, folk, and classical directions. The show will feature musical highlights from years past and new compositions and arrangements.

Witness the Grammy nominated, inventive genre-warping fiddler Casey Driessen and his band the Colorfools. In Driessen’s hands the fiddle is a percussion instrument as well as a breathtaking melodic lead, a synthesizer and a songstress. He has performed with Steve Earle, Tim O’Brien, Béla Fleck, John Mayer, and countless others. He released his solo debut, 3D, in 2006 and Oog in 2008.

Occidental Brothers Dance Band International

Occidental Brothers’ blend of high-energy soukous, rootsy Ghananian Highlife and African Jazz conjures sounds of the golden age of the African guitar band. Led by guitarist Nathaniel Braddock, twice profiled in Guitar Player Magazine, joined by Congolese music legend, the great Samba Mapangala, plus an outstanding band! Bonnie Koloc

The enduring and versatile voice of Bonnie Koloc has been heard in Chicago since 1968. In time her folk-oriented style merged with jazz and blues. Bonnie continues to pursue her music, performing and recording. She has recorded thirteen albums; most recently “Beginnings” (2009), a CD of selections from early live.

NATHAN MANILOW THEATRE
Our newly designed 280 seat theatre is fully accessible to patrons in wheelchairs (limited handicapped seating available) and has been praised by performers and producers alike. The theatre is equipped with a professional sound system, complete theatrical lighting, a 12 foot electrically powered drop screen on stage, and an acoustical backdrop all of which makes the Nathan Manilow Theatre ideal for theatre groups, recitals, audio/visual presentations or lecture events.
RALPH G. JOHNSON ROOM
The carpeted Johnson Room is equipped with a large screen and has easy access to the service kitchen. With an outstanding view of the adjacent 88 acre Central Park/45 acre Central Park Wetlands the Johnson Room is perfect for all-day seminars, instructional programs or private events. The Johnson Room accommodates 60 people theatre style or with tables.
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. ROOM
The carpeted King Room also overlooks Central Park and is perfect for small meetings or planning groups requiring privacy and quiet solitude; connected to the Johnson Room and the service kitchen by a small hallway, the King Room works well as a discussion area when more than one room is required for an all-day event. The King Room can accommodate 20 people theatre style or 15 at tables. ART ACTIVITY ROOM The Art Activity Room located off the backstage area serves as a green room as well as an arts and crafts area. The room accommodates 20 people theater style or 15 at tables, its easy access and close proximity to the stage offer a variety of benefits to those whose meeting requirements are unique.
