Teen Zone

What if we could eliminate boredom from Park Forest teenagers' lives? On any given weekday afternoon, you might expect to see a typical teenager playing basketball at their local YMCA or socializing at a Community Center, and in most of our surrounding communities, that's what you'd find. But in Park Forest, although we have a wonderful school system and good programming for pre-teens and below, there is really no place to go, and a Park Forest teenager is more likely to be found hanging around outside one of the local parks or playing video games at home. Having decided to view this as an opportunity rather than a loss, we created Park Forest history by setting the standard for a teen center. We set out to provide a safe, enjoyable environment, with constructive, educational, and leisure activities that develop and empower diverse leaders and enrich the Village of Park Forest community.

Teens entering 7th grade through 12th grade will be able to enjoy all the benefits of Teen Zone including sports, games, educational opportunities and more. For more information contact Adina McCollough, Recreation and Parks Department at 708-701-3841.

Teen Jobs Connection
The Teen Job Connection matches teenagers (ages 12-18) seeking part-time work with residents who need tasks done around their homes. Teenagers can register for work babysitting, shoveling snowcutting grassraking leavesetc. Residents requesting names are supplied with a list of teenagers interested in the task that needs to be taken care of. Names and contact information will be given to the resident to contact the teenager. The resident requesting the service is responsible for contacting the registered “Connection” teenager to make the necessary arrangements. The “Connection” teenager is responsible for completing the task or notifying the resident if they are unable to complete the work. The resident and teenager will work out an agreement for appropriate pay for services.

For more information contact Adina McCollough, Recreation and Parks Department at 708-701-3841.
