Chicago & the Rise of Barack Obama  Bus Tour (1985-2008)
Don't miss this rare opportunity to discover the Chicago-related history of Barack Obama. Registration deadline: June 10, 2017.

Forgotten Chicago and Pullman-area native Tom Shepherd are proud to present an exclusive tour of sites and people crucial to the rise of Barack Obama in Chicago in the years before his first election to the White House in 2008. Highlighting many Chicago sites that helped shape Obama and his historic rise to the presidency between 1985 and 2008.

This exclusive tour is a rare opportunity to visit little-known sites related to Obama's years in Chicago and to hear from those who worked with Obama during his early career.

We will also visit sites and speak with people who knew the president in Pullman, Roseland and elsewhere. We will even drive through the long-time neighborhood of First Lady Michelle Obama and her mother Marion Robinson, and talk about their history and background in the area.

Of course, no tour of Barack Obama's history and career in Chicago would be complete without a visit to Hyde Park, where Obama taught at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2004 and from where he won his first election in 1996. We will drive past some of the sites critical to Obama's later Chicago career.
