Trip Registration Information

•Recreation & Parks Department will need name, date of birth, address, phone number, and emergency number
 of each person registering for a trip.

•Trip return times are approximate and may change due to unforeseen circumstances and traffic.

•Refunds for trips may vary due to non-refundable tickets or fees. Refund requests made prior to the registration deadline of the trip will be cheerfully given less a 5% refund fee. Cancellations made by Recreation & Parks are
not subject to the 5% refund fee.

•Nothing kills a good trip quicker than waiting until the last minute to register! Please sign up early or the trip
 that you want may have to be cancelled.

Chicago & The Rise of Barack Obama (1985-2008) Bus Tour
by Forgotten Chicago


Forgotten Chicago and Pullman-area native Tom Shepherd are proud to present an exclusive tour of sites and people crucial to the rise of Barack Obama in Chicago in the years before his first election to the White House in 2008.

Join us for a unique and enlightening bus tour highlighting many Chicago sites that helped shape Obama and his historic rise to the presidency between 1985 and 2008. This exclusive tour is a rare opportunity to visit little-known sites related to Obama's years in Chicago and to hear from those who worked with Obama during his early career.
This tour will drive past some of the sites critical to Obama's later Chicago career. The motor coach tour will last approximately 5 1/2 hours (including a couple blocks of walking in Hyde Park).

Registration Deadline Extended Until: Friday, October 13, 2017.

SanFilippo Foundation's "Place de la Musique"
Sanfilippo Estates-The Sanfilippo "Place de la Musique" is known worldwide for its magnificent collections of beautifully restored antique music machines, phonographs, arcade and gambling machines, chandeliers, the world's largest restored theatre pipe organ, the most spectacular European salon carousel in existence, steam engines and much more.

Following our three hour tour we will lunch at Chessies/111 Grill in Barrington. Please tell us your meal choice at the time of registration.

Meal choices are: 

•Roast Pork Loin with mashed potato and veggies
•Chicken Parmesan served over Linguine with Marinara Sauce
•Baked Penne Pasta with roasted vegetables
•Parmesan Crusted Tilapia with rice pilaf

Christmas Lights Tour
We will travel to Downtown Chicago to see the beautiful Christmas light displays. Our first stop will be at the Planetarium Overlook for a panoramic view of the city. We will then travel along Lake Shore Drive to Lincoln Park, North Michigan Avenue and a 1 hour stop at Millennium Park to view the city Christmas tree, the skating rink and the Bean. From there we will take a Loop tour  with a final 1 1/2 hour stop at the open-air Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza.

Registration deadline: November 20.

Please note:  Dinner is not included in the price of this trip. You will have an opportunity to purchase food at the Christkindlmarket or surrounding area during the 1 1/2 hour stop.

Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics
Come out and see the Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics at the United Center.  200 level seating. There is limited seating available and tickets are expected to sell-out, so register early! Children under 18 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult. School bus transportation is provided.

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical
BEAUTIFUL is the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning inspiring true story of Carole King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Seating will be in the Orchestra area at the Cadillac Palace Theatre.

Prior to the show we will be dining at The Berghoff, a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, it is now run by fourth generation, Peter Berghoff. 

Meal choices are: 
  • Sauerbraten (Marinated roasted sirloin of beef,
    sweet and sour gravy)

  • Half Roasted Chicken
