Park Forest to recognize Officer Tim Jones Monday with honorary street

Honorary Officer Tim Jones Way

The Park Forest Board of Trustees Monday evening will officially designate a section of Lakewood Boulevard, from Forest Boulevard to Orchard Drive, as Honorary Officer Tim Jones Way.

A dedication will take place at 6 p.m. just outside of the Park Forest Police Department with a resolution to be read immediately following at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.

Jones, a second generation police officer, hired by the Park Forest Police Department in June of 2015 was critically wounded in the line of duty on March 19, 2016. Given little chance of survival in the days following the shooting, Jones would defy all odds and make a miraculous recovery. A little over a year after the incident, Jones was released from a rehabilitation facility.

Today, Officer Tim Jones continues to rehabilitate and serves as a source of inspiration for all who know his story.
