The Park Forest Police Department is investigating a suspicious circumstance that occurred this morning, Feb. 6. 2015, at around 7:30 a.m. when a junior high school student walking to school on Wilshire St. near Wilson St. reported that a man in a vehicle called her over to him. The girl ran to a friend's home and the man drove away. Police were subsequently notified. Patrol units were in the immediate area, and while they did not see the vehicle in question, they immediately began searching. A detective unit was also just blocks away and immediately began assisting. The man is described as a black male, approximately 28-34 years of age, wearing a black "beanie" style hat and a black coat. The vehicle is described as a black sports utility vehicle with a luggage rack.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Park Forest Police Department Investigations Unit at 708-748-1309. As has been practice, patrol officers will remain in the area of local schools before and after school. Parents are urged to use reports such as these to have conversations with their children about remaining alert to their surroundings and avoiding strangers if unsolicited contact is made.
