Brianna Gipson, a senior at Rich East High School in Park Forest, has been awarded the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) Good Citizen Award based upon her leadership, service, dependability, and patriotism.
Academically, Brianna is focused on becoming an attorney and desires to attend Harvard University. She is also eighth (out of 175) in her class of 2015 with a grade-point-average of 3.628. She also volunteers with SEIU (Service Employees International Union) and encourages the community to vote and to participate in government.
Brianna’s extracurricular activities include: D.E.C.A. (Distribution Education Club of America), Mathletes, National Honor Society, Illinois College Advising Corps, cheerleading, a long-jumper for the track and field team, B.P.A. (Business Professionals of America), Speech Team, F.L.O.W. (Future Leaders of America), and Student Council of Rich East.
“My favorite subject is Advanced Placement Psychology and my favorite teacher is Ms. Christiansen because she’s always been helpful to me and has guided me through some tough times,” Brianna said.
“My parents and Rich East have trained me very well, and I’m going to be able to contribute to a college and not just receive an education from them,” she said.
