Critical services to remain, non-essential services to be halted in wake of stay-in-place order

Coronavirus update

In response to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s executive stay-at-home order, which goes into effect tomorrow, March 21, at 5 p.m., Park Forest will scale back its services to only critical departments. This will remain until at least April 7.

Park Forest’s police department, fire department, and water plant will continue to operate at full staff while other departments housed at Village Hall – administration, building/community development, finance, housing, public works, recreation, parks, and community health department – temporarily shut down operations. Those impacted departments will continue to access email and phone messages remotely and will respond as quickly as possible.

To protect the community’s health and wellness, residents are urged to adhere to the stay-at-home order and only leave home for essential purposes outlined in the Governor’s executive order. Those purposes include:

  • Grocery stores
  • Gas stations
  • Pharmacies
  • Police stations
  • Fire stations
  • Hospitals, clinics and healthcare operations
  • Garbage/sanitation
  • Public transportation
  • Public benefits (i.e. SNAP, Medicaid) hotlines

Residents should periodically check the village’s website for any updates on this situation.
