Park Forest celebrates Halloween with numerous events

Park Forest celebrates Halloween with several events beginning on Oct. 26 and running through Oct. 31. See below for information on each event.

Please note trick or treating hours in Park Forest this year are 3 to 8 p.m. 


Haunts Against Hunger Haunted House 
Oct. 26 - Oct. 31


Support a good cause and a spectacular haunted house. Park Forest’s haunted house, located at 361 Artists Way (next to Village Hall), returns to benefit Haunts Against Hunger. Canned goods and admission fees benefit the local Rich and Monee Township Food Pantries. Tickets are $6 with canned goods; $8 without canned goods; $50 for a group of 10 or more.

Tickets can be purchased at the Village Hall at the Recreation & Parks Department counter. Ticket sales begin one hour prior to the start and end 15 minutes before the close and take place in the Lobby of Village Hall. For questions, call 708-748-2005.

Haunted house hours are: 

Friday, Oct. 26, 7 - 10 p.m

Saturday, Oct. 27, 6:30 - 10 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 28, 1 - 3 p.m. (soft scare opening for young children, elderly and disabled); 6:30 - 9 p.m. is general admission; 

Wednesday, Oct. 31, 6 - 9 p.m.

Fall Fest features chili cook-off, hayrides and more
Oct. 27


Enjoy a chili cook-off, stories around a bonfire with smores, a scavenger hunt, trunk n’ treat, and much more on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Somonauk Park, 250 Somonauk Street, in Park Forest. This event is free to attend and sponsored by the Park Forest Recreation & Parks Advisory Board, Park Forest’s Economic Development and Planning Department, and the Park Forest Police Department.


Trunk or Treat at Somonauk Park
Oct. 27


Join SSSRA and the Village of Park Forest for a fun afternoon of festivities as we kick off the Halloween weekend. Trunk or Treat offers everyone a safe, non-scary way to enjoy Halloween. Cover your vehicle with Halloween decorations, bring factory packaged candy, dress in your costume, and join us for fun! Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated vehicle. Vehicles must be set up by 12:45 p.m. Please list the number of individuals that will be attending per vehicle when registering. Register by Oct. 25. In addition to Trunk or Treat, participants can create a craft, dance to music, and play games. Participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or group home staff. 


Candy walk and costumer contest
Oct. 31


A candy walk in downtown Park Forest begins at 3 p.m. on Oct. 31 (while supplies last). A costume contest for kids begins at 4:15 p.m. at Village Hall following the event.
