The Department of Public Works maintains 6 water wells throughout the community. Each year, one well is inspected and repaired as needed. Well 1 maintenance, located in Well Court, will consist of pulling the pump and pumping components completely to the surface; conducting a T.V. survey of the well; sandblasting pump component parts that may be considered for re-installation; inspection; protective column coating; furnishing repair parts as needed; reinstalling the pump after repair; chlorinating the well and pump to EPA regulations and performing a two hour performance test. Additionally, the existing motor starter will be replaced with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) inside a new traffic box behind 10 Well Court. The VFD will allow the water plant to control the flow rate of the Well, which allows for mixing of water from several wells and helps to reduce treatment costs.
